I currently have a 1999 Ford F-150 with a V6. Since that model didn't come with a tach, I have been wanting to install an aftermarket one. I have looked high and low as to how to install one. I am not sure of xactly what wires I would need to tap into, or if I just need to get an adapter for it. Or if I even need an adapter. So, with that said and done, I was wondering if anybody out there has installed a tach on a similar year truck, or even on just a plain V6. Heck if you have installed an aftermarket tach period, please let me in on how and what you needed to complete the installaiton procces. Thanks a bunch~~

FORD, F SERIES LIGHT DUTY, 1999, Tachometer

Tach wire: on the 4.2L it is a dk. blue/lt. green at the coil pack on top of the motor. On the 4.6L it is a pink/white in a 3 pin plug at the front of the motor below the air intake and next to the fan. On the 5.4L it is a lt. GREEN / WHITE at the coil on the passenger side of the motor between the fuel injectors
