In the morning when go to start my car it is dead  ,  when i jump it it keeps stalling until it has been driving for quite some time.  when i turn on my dome light it makes a clicking noise in my dash.  all since i had an after market stereo installed.  any ideas what it could be.  when it stalls I can restart it no problem.  just not over night.

What is the car and the year as well ? Try to disconnect the stereo and see if this problem is still there the next morning. If it is, then it's not the stereo .

HI,  thanks for responding.  It's a Dodge Durango 1998.  I disconnected the stereo and both amps and the sub i just have a bunch of wires hanging out of my dash.   not touching each other though.  I havent jumped it  yet today.  I don't have anyone right now to do it but, with the car off and the stereo totally out of the car I open the door and as soon as the dome light comes on (even without the key in ) it starts clicking somewhere behind the dash???  when i do jump it it will restart it just wont idle till its been running for a long while.  by morning its dead.  My husband Has been so busy he cant do it now so I decided to try myself. I think I opened a can of worms.

any Ideas?  I read somewhere on the net that if you put the wrong brake light in it can cause the dome light to go o n every time you hit your brakes.   Thats not my problem but...  could it be in the relay fuses??   HELP

THANK YOU Diane

weird how it wont run unless its been idling for a long time. You might wanna check all the fuses under the hood. Almost sounds like your alternator isn't connected and charging up the battery anymore. My cousin had a system installed by Car Toys a pretty good chain store and the guy wired the stuff all backwards! Popped some fuse(s) under the hood and burned out the switch for the dash lights. They tried to say it wasnt them, I get seriously p.o'd at that point cause i was there when they couldn't finish the radio/amp install the day before. I grabbed the manager and asked him why the guy was under the hood probing the fuse box and re-removing the radio. dillholes

well I got the stereo all disconnected and yes the wires were all wrong but when I jumped the car it still didn't want to idle.... i drove it about 3 miles and i think the battery got charged enough and it idles just fine no problems. the volts are 12.5  i guess i just cross my fingers and hope disconnecting the stereo (draining the battery) fixed the problem.  I will soon find out tomorrow morning..   Thanks so much for all advise!!  Diane

When you put everything back together let me know if your Cruise Control still works. I have a 99 Durango SLT and since I installed my Kenwood head unit my cruise control won't work. I can turn in on and the dash light comes on but when I hit the SET button nothing happens. I never touched the steering wheel so it shouldn't be the coil spring and the only wires that were left disconnected from the head unit was the two wires for the steering wheel remote controls. I asked my Dodge dealer if the Cruise uses these lines as a Bus link or ground in any way but they said no. I installed the radio myself so I know nothing else was touched. When I get a chance I am going to put the stock radio in and see if it works again and see if they were wrong. It stinks because I can't get any good wiring diagrams for the truck. I tried Chilton and Haynes but they only show engine electrical and Dodge wants like $70 for a sevice manual. Anybody know if that Techsoft CD is any good? I might also get it help install my alarm. I see it online for $120 but it supposedly covers all types of cars. I'd rather just throw someone a couple of bucks and let me copy it ( I have a cable modem).
