Has anybody found the VSS for the Ford 500? Installing a Pioneer AVIC-D1.

Should be on the radio harness, usually grey with black.

I've been told the 500 doesn't have one. We have tried to get one but no luck. We can't find one on the Freestyle either. There isn't supposed to be one on the Mustang, but we did get one at the ECM. We tried going to the same pin location on a Freestyle and it didn't work. I sure would like to find one myself. Ford even got rid of the one that was in the radio harness on the Explorer for 06, but it is available at the ECM.

Yes I heard that due to the car is using the new cam obdII system that it is all encoded in a data line. I guess I will try to hook the radio up with no vss and try it out. All else fales I'll put some sort of magnet on something under the car that turns like abs sensor or on one of the drive shafts.

Some corporate head here decided that to make these cars work we are going to add a pulse signal generator. It mounts inside the fender well and you wave a magnet over the steel belts in the tire to give a pulse. Works great until the owner decides to get his tires rotated every 6 months or so. What a pain in the ass......

Got the unit installed. VSS not hooked up and GPS is perfect. The unit kept track within a few feet which is about right with GPS anyway. The gray/black wire that splicing-wires said was VSS is not, it is for 5 vdc turn on for the sub amp in the trunk. I don't know how other radios will work without the VSS wire, but the AVIC-D1 works great. Radio, 6 disk dvd changer, xm, 2 8" headrest monitors, back-up camera, and moded sub amp and steering wheel controls. PERFECT.
