Would any one be able to help me with this problem. My 1997 Geo Tracker 3sp auto and nothing else factory. Aftermarket it has a Viper 550 ESP Alarm added. I inherited this car from my son in August after his death and I have no info on the installer of the Viper. I have replaced the speedometer already and from what I can see, the VSS is behind it or part of the Speedo at least thats what GM tells me nad a new one is $450.. Do I need a new speedo cable? Where do I go from here as in Massachusetts, the VSS kills the emissions part of the annual state test which I just did a second time.

The Vehicle Speed Sensor could be causing emission problems, but I would want another opinion before replacing.........You need the VSS hooked up.
What does the Viper have to do with the VSS??  Was it hooked to it?

VSS Wire: Behind Cluster 22 Pin Con Position 7
VSS Wire Color: Yellow
VSS Pulse: 4000
