Sorry for duplicating this post....I put it in car stereo also but realized this might be a better place.

Hi Everybody.

I have a 2006 Ford F-350 Diesel with the factory stereo system and an aftermarket Sirius receiver installed.  The signal is transferred to the factory stereo with the built in FM modulator from the Satellite Receiver.  My issue is the Factory radio stays on even after turning ignition off, but the satellite receiver turns off.....since no local radio is broadcast on that frequency it blasts static or garbage sound until I open the door which turns the factory stereo off.  So my question is there a way to wire the 12 volt for the satellite radio to go on and off whenever the factory stereo goes on or off.   Circuity city says the radio is controlled by a 6 volt door trigger, and the radio has a constant 12 volts all the time.  According to them it is not possible to coordinate the 2 devices.

If this is not possible as they say.....I would at least like to be able to run the satellite when I turn the ignition switch back to the ACC position.  As it is currently installed (by circuit city) the satellite only turns on when I turn the ignition all the way to the run position which is also powering the glow plugs and anything else powered when the engine is on.  Circuit City says that since the new vehicles are all computer controlled that it is hooked to an accessory fuse.....because the satellite shuts off when starting the vehicle.  I am guessing I could figure out the accessory issue by testing all the fuses until I find the correct one....but it would be really great if I could tie the satellite into the factory radio as stated above.

Thanks in advance for your help.

James

As far as I know that is not the case.  I actually installed an amp and subs in an 06 mustang today and it worked  fine and it has the exact same radio as your truck does.  What you need to do is connect your power for the satellite radio to the accessory wire behind the radio.  This will allow it to stay on until you open the door.  The newer GM vehicles is a different story, but as far as I know the Ford vehicles are not that way.  Sounds like the Circuit City guys didn't want to do the extra labor required to remove the factory radio, because you have to remove the entire dash piece and they probably didn't know how.  I would take it to another shop that is familiar with newer vehicles.

Thanks Doibuy,

I am nervous about tearing into my new truck dash....but I will call around and find a shop that is comfortable with this vehicle.  Thanks again for your info.

James
