I am trying to replace the OEM HU (CM1010) with a Pioneer AVIC-D2 system. I have talked to couple of installer and they refuse to work on the car due to their lack of knowledge or fiber optics in the car.

My issue right now is that I don't know how the preout from the HU is connected to the BOSE amp. Is it FO or copper? Everything I have read on the net says it is copper and when I look at the back of the HU, I don't see any speaker level out wires. None exist as the connector where the wires should be is not used (the middle connector).

Any help will be appraciated. Thanks!

it is fo, however I believe the amp is located in the trunk next to either wheel well, it is small and will have all wires needed to connect to the speakers. test speaker phase when connecting so that it will sound as it should. your probably better off pulling the radio and amp. to connect to speakers. cap the tweeters and midrange speakers so they dont blow. dont cut the clip off of the factory amp just disconnect the amp and tap on to the speaker wires which you will have to determine.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

Thanks! I am showing the car to another installer who thinks he can do. I hope to find someone competent enough to install this and not mess up my care.
