I would like to know if anyone can provide me with the speaker wire colors and polarities for a 2001 Kia Sportage 4 door. I am going to be undertaking a project to upgrade the sound system in the vehicle and know this information beforehand would be a great help.!!

I'm not sure about the polarities. But to find out the speaker wire color, all you have to do is take out the speaker(s) that you want replaced. When you take them out just look at which wire is (+) and which is (-).

I suggest using a wiring harness from Metra or American International. They cost only $ 10.00 and this way you can keep the stock wiring harness intact if you ever sell the vehicle and have to put the stock radio in again, makes things alot easier.

Hi Chris, here's what I have for a 2001 Kia Sportage:

Constant 12V+: Light Green
Switched 12V+: BLACK / YELLOW
Ground : Black
Illumination : Blue / YELLOW
FL+ : Green
FL- : Blue/Red
RF+ : Light GREEN/ YELLOW
RF- : BLACK/ Green
LR+ : GREEN/ YELLOW
LR- : Blue/Orange
RR+ : GREEN / WHITE
RR- " GREEN/ Blue

BTW, if you do plan to reinstall the factory head unit when you sell the vehicle, do as Jeff suggested and purchase a harness.
