Hi,

I am having some trouble with my system, and installing a new cd player. I have the infiniti system (factory amp?), I bought the wiring kit from best buy for the install, I connected all the wires that were present on stock harness and new stereo's, but there was a small 2-wire plug that I have no clue what it is. There is an AMP wire on stereo, but where should it go? I am a little confused about whether or not there is an amp and how to hook it up. As of before the install and right now, still no sound at all, unit has power, plays cd's etc, but no sound. I appreciate any help, thanks.

A light green wire (pin 1 next to pin 2 a BROWN / Yellow wire) at the factory  radio harness has to be power in order  for the Factory amp to turn on, usally  the wire is blue/white in an aftermarket radio. May be you didn't connect the blue wire in the harness that you bought since it was labeled power antenna?

Is up to the installer to test all wires with a DMM whenever possible.

well, i don't know if you need this info anymore or not ..... i hope not ......... or maybe somebody else can use it, who knows .... lol ...... chrysler and infinity systems are using a data turn on lead ( purple on white ).  if you see this wire on the back of your factory infinity stereo you CANNOT connect your aftermarket turn on to this wire.  your amp is just going to make a bunch of clicking sounds.  you have 2 options.

1.  use an interface unit ... ie, peripheral CHYAH or CHYAH05 (for crhysler vehicles 2005 and up).  they have a turn on lead that mimics the data turn on signal.   if your fealing frisky you can bypass the factory amp altogether ......

2.  bypass the factory amp (about 2 to 5 hours work, cheaper and sounds better too).... remove the stereo trim bezel, remove the lower dash unit under stereo trim bezel and remove the glovebox dash area.  above the A/C unit behind the glove box you will find the factory infinity amp (unless it's a freakin caravan, the amps are on each speaker).  remove the 3, #10 bolts on the amp and unplug the two connectors.  the plug with all green wires will be your door speakers, the plug with the 3 pairs of grey wires is the dash speakers.  on the dash speaker plug,  the outermost 2 pairs are your left and right, the innermost pair is the center channel (if present).  you will have to "pop" the pairs to find the speaker you are looking for, but to save you some time, chrysler is pretty good about using the dark bands as the hot side and the lighter bands as the ground when your checking for polarity ( the safest bet is to have somebody watch the speaker while you pop it).  after you find the speaker you are looking for, splice your wires and run them to the stereo location, attach these wires to your stereo harness .... bam, no more factory amp ....

you can also hunt the wires down in the kick panels. i just prefer to do all the work in one spot instead of jumping around the car.
