I have a standard PATS #3 bypass unit for an 02 Taurus. There are three wires; red for positive, black for remote start negative, and blue for??

Is it a keysense? Thanks.

Yeah, but is not needed on a taurus....in fact, i've never used that wire on any Ford remote starts. Basically what the wire does, is shut the bypass off if there is a key in the ignition........Say you have a key in the ignition, and then you try to remote start the vehicle.....the pats system will get confused...it will see a signal from the key in the ignition, and a signal from the key in the box....this will cause the vehicle to not start. If you do use the keysense wire, it will send a signal to the bypass to tell it there is a key in the igniton, and the vehicle will still remote start correctly.

Mikvot, Im an ametuer installer but is the key sense only used for the bypass units? If the car doesnt require a bypass is it ever used?

I don't think so. I've installed remote units before (without bypasses) and haven't used a keysense wire. It only makes sense if there were a bypass.
