do all gps devices work offroad.. i want to get one for my sandrail and i need on that will work if i am in the desert miles away from any roads and have it still work maybe get me back to where i started on find a road close so i can get back from there

You will probably be looking at a hand held version from garmin or magellen. The most important thing is that they have the ability to set waypoints.
