I bought a car that has a flip-out headunit with a screen on it. It also has a separate DVD player. When playing a DVD, the picture is messed up. It is black and white and it seems as if the picture is shifted up, so the bottom of the movie is about 1/4 of the way up the screen. Sorry if it is confusing. Thanks for any help.

Check to see if there's a crack in the coaxial wire for the video feed. If you have a TV that you can temporarily hook up as well for the monitor, this will tell you if it's the DVD player or the monitor.
