Yo Biohazardous! I own an AVIC-N1 and have dealt with this issue.

I too upgraded from the 2004 DVD's to the 2007 DVD's. But after unplugging and testing I found that I have to disconnect the antenna and the VSS wire in order to watch DVD's while I am driving. Which is fine for me because when I'm watching movies I'm usually just driving down the interstate. Not through the city.

There was a seller on eBay that hack the hardware hack for it. But this did involve soldering on the main board. Try look him up if you want to do that... I might do it eventually.

You can also cut the antenna and wire the shield and the inner wire to 2 relays and "cut" the antenna with a switch every time you want to watch video... I have not done this yet either...

I've have also gotten the error telling me insert the appropriate disk. I had to press the reset button on the deck to fix this. Don't know why, but haven't gotten it since.

I don't have an iPod so I can't help ya there.
