Hi there,

    I have a 12" DVD monitor that I got off Ebay about 1 1/2 years ago. It was a DVD player, monitor with TV tuner, all integrated. The DVD player has failed, stopped reading any DVDs and always marking as 'No disc inserted' plus making a strange noise. I concluded that the laser or something has failed, and I don't know if it is repairable.

    I got a seperate DVD player, and tried to connect it with the monitor via it's AUX input. However, nothing comes on the monitor, it stays with 'No Signal'. I tried the player with a TV at home, and it works. The monitor does show the 'DVD' screen if the mode is set to dvd player, and if set to TV it does show the interference (no aerial is connected), and the AUX mode shows the blue screen with 'NO SIGNAL' written.

    Any idea what might be the problem? I took the monitor off the car, and inspected slightly its PC board, there do not seem to be any "broken" wires or anything burnt. Do you think it might be repairable? It does not have a major brand, and branded as made in China.

    Another thought, I don't know if it is ridiculous - Is there any way I can connect a DVD player output, convert it to a signal that can be fed as if tuned to a TV? I don't know if I'm explaining myself well, basically, instead of the aerial/antenna connected to the coaxial jack for the antenna of the monitor, I connect the dvd player, and thus when I switch the mode to 'TV' it will be 'tuned' to the dvd player. I've seen a decoder that a local cable company uses for its service, that connects with the TV via its 'aerial' input, and then you put the TV on channel 1, and you switch channels from the decoder.

    ANy help would be greatly appreciated! I really don't wish to throw the monitor away, as i've spent quite some money on it!
