wondering if anyone has tried to integrate an oem toyota overhead with an aftermarket video indash. Heres the scenario. I have a customer with an 04 toyota sequoia with jbl and an oem overhead, He wants to put in a pioneer avh4000dvd and use his oem overhead with it (but just using the pioneer for the video output) so we would be using his external input plug in the car to the output of the pioneer. The snag is the overhead is triggered by some sort of data or low voltage trigger and will not turn on without it.
Yes it is. I have done a few, a tricky install. I know this sounds crazy, but i leave the factory radio in the truck. With some work you can just fit the radio down below the heater controls behind the dash. The radio just needs to be plugged in and turned on for the OEM DVD to work. You need to bend a little metal, move some harnessess, and jamb the thing in there but it will go.
Also, since you are using the plugs for the factory radio i end up bypassing the JBL amps and run wires directly to the speakers. There are 6 speakers and all of them can be found in both front kick panels.
When i do these i am always installing a Nav indash so i need to send signal from the DVD to the nav but you should be able to send signal to the DVD just as easily. Remove the DVd from the console and look for the shielded wires on the back. They are the ones you need....

Oh yea, forgot. You gotta remove the radio face to get it to fit. No big deal just turn it on before you remove it...
