I need a vss signal from my 04 bmw 325i.  Can i get this from the engine bay or something in the dash?  The answer i have recived so far is that it is a BLACK/ white wire behind the instrument panel.  The instrument panel is easy to remove and i took a DMM to every wire, no luck, the whole cluster seems to be digital.  i have searched for a CAN-VSS adapter that will give vss but so far i have come up empty.  in case anyone is curious i have installed an in-dash JVC gps that requires vss, i thought i could get away without it, like the avic's, but it wont let me.  It was alot easier to bypass the dvd saftey than the avic's though (and no i dont watch while driving).

I appreciate any help i can get.

Found it!  YELLOW /GREEN wire behind the instrument cluster.
