Newb question here, but I bought a new truck and I would like to avoid jerry-rigged wiring in it (No, the old one didn't burst into flames)
I'm wanting to run power to the back seat of my Mega cab. Great truck, but no power outlets. I want to install two power plugs, and hardwire an Audiovox SDB45 Switch for two hardwired screens with DVD's.
Probably overkill, but I'm terminating a fused 4 GA run from the battery to a six circuit fused DC Sub panel (max 100A) under the seat. Grounding to the vehicle at the seat bolts and the DC Sub Panel. This will allow me to hardwire the outlets, switching unit and two LCD/DVD's in the headrest.
Total draw at max usage will be about 70 amps, but I want the overhead to possibly install something else on the sub panel later.
Now, to the question.... the LCD/DVD's and Switching unit need an ACC connection. where is the best place to tap this? I could go off the switched Power outlet on the dash, the back of the stereo, or even the ignition.... But I was thinking of an Add-A-Circuit in the fuse box. would this handle the LCD/DVD's, and SDB45?
Finally, I was thinking I should make the power outlets switched as opposed to constant... they could draw up to 30A if I had an inverter plugged in. where should I pull the ACC for that?
Sorry for the long post, but you should have all the info you need.
Thanks in Advance

To tap into acc the fuse box find a fuse that requires the car to be in acc and the same rating you need to have your six outlets you want you need a power invertor. And if yoyu are running 6 outlets and chances is they will be used I would run it to a fuse that requires the car to be completly on make ure you polarieties are correct.

Since you are already running a 4ga power cable I would use it to provide the power.
Throw a few relays to be trigged by the acc/ign and have them switch the constant power on and off. I'm not a big fan of add-a-circuit stuff at the fusebox.
If you use relays and the 4ga you are already running you won't have to worry about the added load on the OEM fuse/wiring.

That's true also but some people are relay and some tap into the fuse I tried both but I pefer the fuse box. But in hi case since wht he is doing is near the power wire and he doesn't mind cutting the 4 awg wire to put a relay in then why not. As long as it doesn't catch fire. Good luck

Thanks guys! That's exactly what I'm doing! I'm running a 4 AWG run from the second battery to a Blue Sea POS/NEG Fused Distro box. That takes care of up to 100A of constant 12V.
From the distro box I am running into a 15A Relay and into a POS only Blue Sea Fused Distro box. It will be triggered by a switched 12V from the console power plug. That gives me a completely separate switched connection point for all my needs.
As for the 12V power plugs, They'll come of the constant 12V supply, with Bosch/Tyco relays triggered from the switched distro box.
Now I can hook up both DVD/LCD's, the Audiovox SDB45 signal distro box and anything else I need down the road. It's a pretty sweet setup, and it all fits under the front passenger seat.
It's probably overkill, but I tend to overbuild things! I'm in the process now, so I'll post pics over the next couple of days.
Thanks for all the ideas, and if you haven't checked out the BASIC CAR AUDIO ELECTRONICS link found on this site, you really need to! The guy that wrote it has been fantastic with his help, and gave me the relay idea. Relays are awesome!
