does any one know how to fix or where i can get my alpine cva 1003 fixed the unit works and all but when u open the monitor the screen comes out but will not fold up im in the chicago land are if anyone could be of any help

There is a gear kit listed for that unit at pacparts.com the part number is 01V33144S01 it will cost you 30 dollars plus shipping. 1-800-421-5080 I have never changed this set, so I can not tell you how hard it is.

Have you tried assisting the screen when it stops moving out? If it has a broken gear you may be able to gently tilt it up to get it open. If it is a broken gear once it starts going up it may continue on it's own. Or you may hear the gears jumping teeth.
