Just installed AVIC-N2 in the STS, and for some reason the Navigation arrow, is off. It usually shows me traveling sideways, even though i have the brain mounted correctly, and straight. I read on another forum that connecting the (PINK) RSS lead from the brain to the vehicle's harness may clear the problem, but ive searched and have found no info on its location. Does anybody know where it is, or where i can tap into? Is that even the problem with the arrow? If i turn the brain, it will straighten the arrow out but then gets crooked again while driving.

Never heard of an RSS wire. Do you mean the VSS (vehicle speed signal) wire?

Yes, connecting the VSS lead may resolve your issue. If memory serves me correctly, it's a green or GREEN / WHITE wire at the ECM in a blue 80 pin connector and should be 4000 pulses per mile.

Do i have to remove the instrument panel to get to it, or can i tap into it elsewhere?

It's been a while since I've worked on one of those cars, but if you have a factory cruise control, you may be able to get it at the cruise control servo under the hood. If not, the ECM in GM vehicles could be in the engine compartment, behind the glove box, or above the driver's side kick panel. If you don't find it, maybe one of our other members will chime in with the exact color and location.

isn't the ecm for this car against the backside of the rear seat? i seem to remember tagging wires for a similar vehicle there. pain in the butt.

alright so i found the wire and i ran a test copper wire from it to the brain of the avic-n2. It was showing me the speed of the car, so i thought it was all good, but when i took the thick copper test wire off and replaced it with a strand of speaker wire, it didnt read anymore! Does it have to be a certain gauge wire?
