Need to know how to disable the dash video blackout on a 2008 Escalade when it is in drive. I've had other units and it was always just removing a ground wire.

The Nav unit is being told to turn off the video signal via the data signal from the vehicle speed sensor. This means the only way to stop it is to stop the data signal which turns your radio on, makes the steering wheel controls work, onstar, nav audible directions... Factory units do not have a ground wire hooked up to the parking brake wire like aftermarket. Any of the above will also void any warranty your new vehicle had on it's radio and electrical. I suggest you replace it with a aftermarket if you want to watch movies as you drive down the road, stupid thing to do but if that's what you want.

No movies while driving. Trying to use the rear video inputs for a Hawker front day/night vision assist warning system. So to override the signal it takes a software code change? If the signal comes from the speed sensor, why does it shut off when the truck is taken out of park even when not moving?

It shuts down with both, you just see the initial when park is removed. Manufactures switched to both specifically because of ppl trying to get by the brake... There is no software to change this function. Change the unit.

I was just thinking about it and there is a way to get video into that unit. PAC makes a unit called a VCI-GM3 which is a simple T'ing of the ribbon cable to the lcd screen, we use it for adding back-up camera's to the factory nav. If you are just trying to get a rca video signal in that will work and because it is a T'ing of the ribbon it bypasses the shut downs of the unit.
