05 silverado pioneer avh p4000dvd cuts ou

I just got an 05 Silverado with no Bose or Onstar and had a Pioneer Avh-P4000DVD to use in it, I got the Scosche GM2000 interface and a Metra kit and went to work soldering and heatshrinking all my connections and put it in and it worked great - at first. After going over a friends to show him the new radio we went to get a bite to eat and sat in the truck and tried out the DVD and it was working great after about a half hour we left and I put in regular music CD and on the way home I hit a bumpy spot on the road and it seemed like the radio shut off and then came right back on. When it comes back on for a second it flashes a screen that comes up when you stop play on a disc and then resumes right where it was playing before. I noticed time and station presets are not lost so I assume the constant power lead is OK. I have done probably 50 or so installs and while I am not the best I do know how to solder and all my connections are good so I am assuming either the radio or the Scosche box is bad. Any ideas?? Radio was used but it benched fine for a whole 2 hour DVD but I wonder if it is maybe overheating in the dash??

If the radio is not losing memory when it cuts out i would guess it has a connection problem with the 12volt switch wire.

Try hard wiring the switch wire to another switched source in the truck. I assume the harness you used generates the 

switched power internally and may havean internal problem.

yes it does supply switched power but will doing it that way screw up the module's other functions for chimes etc or cause other issues?? I was thinking of just running a jumper lead out to my hotshot box and driving it around for a bit and if it fixes it then I know problem lies with the module if not then I know the radio is to blame. You know I can do 10 installs for other people with ZERO issues but my own crap is always a problem LOL

Hey mrmontebuilder I feel your pain on the 10 installs for other people! I could not have said that better myself! Connect switch power from another source in the vehicle (be sure to fuse it) and that will more than likely solve your problem! Let us know!

I think I fixed it. I pulled apart again and it feels like the plug for the chime module on the adapter harness was not in fully. I had to really push to get it seated but it seems fine now, but a week of testing will tell for sure. I hate doing my own cars always issues LOL

Well so much for fixed - it went stupid again tonight and would not turn OFF and the chime stopped working so at 11PM in my driveway I pulled the dash apart again and took out the radio and tried another of the same thing. I figure chances of 2 radios having the exact same issue are slim so I unplugged the module and plugged it back in and chime started working and radio functioned normally. At this point I assume the Scosche GM2000 module I got is junk. Anyone else have this issue with this module. I really hate like he$$ to run a switched lead to fix this as I like the way RAP works and I would like to retain the feature if possible but on the other hand pulling my dash apart once a week seems like no fun time either so I guess I need to choose the lesser of two evils.
