I have a avh-p6500 dvd, when the screen is closed the deck completly blacks out, get sound but cannot control anything, no lights etc. if i remove the face plate and reattach everything works fine but then blacks out again usually over bumps. now if the screen is open it is starting to happen too. screen will shut off same symptoms. do the ribbons work loose?

This not an easy repair for a novice. There may be instructions to change it on the web. You will have to look for them.
