I have a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS which has a MMCS(Mitsubishi Multimedia Communications System) head unit which is essentially a GPS/Satellite/DVD/etc all-in-one double DIN factory head unit.

On the back of it there is a S-Video looking connector. Rumor has it that you can use an iPod cable on it to control your iPod through the interface. The two cables that supposedly work with this are:

Factory Mitsubishi P/N: MZ608561 (aprox $250-300)
Kenwood KCA-iP500 iPodŽ Control (aprox $100)

They both have a bit of a hefty price tag on them so I'm looking to find out if anyone has tried either of these and whether or not you can actually control the iPod through the head unit before I buy one. The entertainment system does have an RCA input but this provides mediocre sound with very low volume, no charging, and no control. Looking to integrate the iPod, if this in fact is the solution....

I just looked at the KCA-iP500 on ebay $15 or more. Get it there if you thank it might work on it. Don't spend the $100
