Hi all, I've gotten a generic back up camera which i would like to install with my avic F series reciever, but havent a clue which wire is positive and which is negative.  The camera is definately "el cheapo" but I probably will destroy it anyways with the gravel that I travel (ooh that rhymes).  There is no name or markings on the camera, and there are 3 wires on it.  The video connector, and two black wires, one with a white stripe.  Would anyone know which one is the positive, which one is the ground?  Or maybe it doesnt matter which is hooked to power?  I would assume it should matter...:errr:

I can only assume that the white stribed wire is positive.  Just to make sure, insert a 1 amp fuse into an in-line fuse holder, power one side of the fuse holder, connect other end to the BLACK/ white wire.  Now briefly touch the black wire to ground.  If it blows the fuse, replace it and then connect the black wire to the fuse holder, and ground the BLACK/ white.  Whichever way does not blow the fuse, is the correct way.

The rule of the industry as I understand it is:  If it has a stripe and it is not a black stripe, it is positive.  If it has a black stripe, then it is negative.
