I am installing a Kenwood DDX814 headunit into my 2009 GMC Sierra Ext Cab with factory Bose stereo.
I did a search on GMOS-LAN. Several threads came up, but I still have a couple questions.
A stereo shop quoted me a GMOS-LAN-05, but when I enter my vehicle into the Metra website it gives me the GMOS-LAN-02.
I want to retain all the factory chimes, OS, RAP, blinkers, etc... - but I'm going to use an aftermarket amp, speakers, and new speaker wires. I'm going for SQ and don't want my 5.0 volt preouts going through another module (with another gain) if possible.
Can I just ignore the RCA inputs on the harness, or does it need a signal from the deck? Leave the Bose amp in place and use it to run a dedicated speaker under the dash for the network. Tap into the factory speaker wires and run them back out of the doors under the dash?
Does that sound feasible? How else would I go about doing something like this? There is also unused deck power and unused center channel rca available...
I can't be the 1st guy to put all aftermarket equipment into a factory Bose vehicle.

Just ignore the rca's on the metra harness. They are only to send audio to the factory bose amp. If you are adding a 4ch amp at the same time you will effectively be doing an amp bypass to get rid of the blose amp.
You should be able to leave the bose amp in place to run the rest of the network stuff. However I don't think it will mute the kenwood so you can hear the speaker under the dash. Hopefully someone on the forum will have some more exp retaining those features.

Since you mention it, both the 02 & 05 harnesses have a brown Mute wire. The Kenwood also has a brown Mute input. So I'll cross my fingers there...
After doing some reading on the harnesses, they are both for factory amplified vehicles. The difference is if the Bose system is digital or not. The digital system uses data to turn on the amp where the analog system uses +12 volts.
How do I tell if it's digital? Is it a given that the Bose system is digital? They list a Y91 code.

Well, I called tech support at Metra. He told me to use the GMOS-LAN-01 harness for non-amplified vehicles which doesn't have RCAs.
I have to rig a speaker under the dash for the chimes & onstar. And rig a relay if I want to hear 'clicking' for the blinkers.
The GMOS-LAN-02 has the blinker sound built in, but requires going through an amp. He advised me against this harness and using the Bose amp because of feedback through the system. I forgot to tell him that I'm running all new speaker wires and the factory wires would all be unused or dedicated to the chimes/warning system.
I still think it might work this way, but I guess I'll call Metra back.
If it will work with the Bose amp, my new question is - where are the crossovers for the midrange in the door and the tweet in the A pillar? I need a fullrange signal for the speaker under the dash. So I just need to know where to tap into before any x-overs.

The frequencies are crossed over inside the bose amp. There shouldn't be any crossovers anywhere else in the car.
Well that creates a new problem then... I was hoping they were full range signals with passives @ the speakers. That way I could tap into either the mid OR the tweeter wire. That means I almost need separates under the dash. I guess I could use the actual Bose speakers that I'm taking out.
All this because the GMOS-LAN-01 does not have a factory blinker sound. It has an output to 'rig' a relay. Maybe I'll just get over it and do it...
