I have a 2008 silverado, just installed new overhead dvd system. I have the +12v and grnd connected to feed for dome lights that works fine. What I need to know is where and how to get the switched (acc) +12v from. Is there something special I have to buy to get this or should i be abls to get this out of the fuse box.

Grab it from the ignition switch and fuse it. Rarely you will see an overhead domelight with all of the connections up there.

Don't get it from the ignition harness as this will cause major problems with your truck. On the driver's side of the firewall, just beside your parking brake you will see a large junction panel with a cover over it. Remove the cover. Behind the cover you will see a number of plugs and cavities for missing plugs. The cavity 2nd from the bottom on the left side of the junction block, you will find a few terminals. One of these is a switched ignition source, one battery and one ground. Use a volt meter to check which is which. This is where you should get power from. The ignition harness is only for the BCM to determine what power mode the key is in. It is not capable of powering any device directly. Doing so will really screw up your truck.
