First of all I have spoken to two different people at Alpine and one says my setup should work and another says he is trying to replicate the setup and troubleshoot it for me (this was over a week ago, have not yet heard back...). So, in the meantime I am hoping to find someone who has the same setup and has had success.

The system is as follows:

Alpine VPA-B222 hub pro, displaying through my non-alpine monitor
https://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=VPA-B222

KRE-500E remote eye receiver plugged into remote eye jack of VPA-B222
https://www.crutchfield.com/S-JRUvt2Rbpm1/p_500KRE500E/Alpine-KRE-500E.html

NVE-872A navigation
https://alpine-usa.com/US-en/products/product.php?model=NVE-N872A

According to Alpine, the remote control that comes with the NVE-872A should be able to control the navigation when pointed at the remote eye sensor that is plugged into VPA-B222. Although I can see the introductory screen on my monitor, the system is not responding to the remote. I have tried resetting and still nothing.

The remote that came with the nav unit is the RUE-4187. I also tried to control the rudimentary functions of the VPA with a generis alpine remote, an RUE-4140, and still no response.

My questions are:

1) has anyone combined these items with success, including a non-alpine monitor?

2) is there a difference between the KRE-500E remote eye and the KWE-500E remote eye? should I be using the latter?

3) Based on my non-alpine monitor usage I have the "Alpine/other" switch to "other". Is this not correct? I should try it in the "Alpine" position perhaps, though I do not know if I will lose composite video output or not.

Thanks in advance for your input.

sorry to bring back an old thread, but i am basically having the same issue, with no response from the remote

but i got an all alpine setup with a iva-d300, then the nve-852a navi, and i have also have the oringinal remote for the headunit and a RUE-4136 (came with navi when i bought it used) remote too

anyways the headunit remote works no problem, then the rue remote also works no problem when the switch on the side is set to "audio" (mimics factory remote), but absolutly no response from the head unit as soon as that switch is slide to "navi" (and it is transmitting also, cause i can see the IR beam when i use a camera to see it)

There are a couple of solutions. I got an alpine adapter that plugs into the RBG monitor output of the brain and allows connection for rca video, rca audios, and remote eye input. I mounted the eye up front and it works perfectly. The other solution is to connect an alpine remote eye dircetly to the brain, if it allows this, but does not always work. Hope this helps.

ty for the response, but i did figure it out though, cable was smashed in 2 places which had basically cut the wiring inside (like 8 of the wires btw), and what i did was basically cut that section out, then stripped the wires and taped them together, (only to get it working), which fixed it, and let the remote respond and such

after that i did just go buy a new cable and works just fine now (i thought about shortening the old cable at the same time, as fixing it, but was not worth my time though)
