Hey guys This weekend i installed my new AVH-P6400CD only to find out it has lots of noise. hen i change the cd track you can hear noise in the speakers also it has a constant hum. The power is down the left side of the truck and the rcas and speaker wire goes down the right side, if i change the rcas it still does it and im using a fairly expensive set of ixos wires. Also when my ps2 is hooked up to my invertor it makes lots of video and audio noise. Yet when i hook the invertor up to another battery it works perfectly, but when it i hook it straight to my own battery it still does the same thing. Any idea/suggestions PLEASE! Thanks

- Make sure that your ground wire is sufficient gauge & also length for the inverter and the AVH
- check the battery and the alternator to ensure that they are both performing at peak performance. Either one being weak will cause electrical failures in forms of distortion or lines in a video screen

my pioneer 940mp worked perfectly i know its not the battery and alternator as they are less then 3 months old. My ground for the amp is 8 guage and so is my deck ground. Anyone have any other ideas?

Something else to check is your connections ( hopefully you soldered all connctions ) and another thing to check is your amplifier gain is not set to max. If so turn it abck to about 2/3 power and see if the hum is still there.

Still havent solved the problem, the hum isnt there when the truck is in Park i can press the gas with no noise at all soon as i put the truck into drive or reverse bout 5 seconds later it starts to hum. Anyone have any ideas please? its driving me nuts!!

Mark, I had the exact same problem with the same head unit getting engine noise, like a high pitch whine, increasing with engine RPM's. This actually happened twice, once this past weekend and once in Nov. The first time back in November, I sent the headunit back to get a new one and it fixed it......WELL.... Turns out this past weekend getting my PS2 installed, my NEW installer found out what the problem is/was. I have a 6ch RCA cable running from my RCA outs to my 5ch PPI amp. Well, the crappy monster cable connections were bad!!! We ran some 2 dollar RCA's from wal-mart from the head unit.....now making the noise AGAIN this weekend.... to the AMP and it fixed it!!! Hooked the monster back up 2 minutes later, the whine from my engine was back! Well this pissed me off paying 70 bucks for the 6ch monster cable.....ANYWAY... I have almost the same unit, the AVH-6400 w/o CD. I had it installed my Circuit City and they said that my head unit was bad.....showing me by hooking up their "shop" radio to my system and it wasn't there. So don't replace your headunit like I did, check the RCA cables first and ALSO your RCA connections from the headunit out, mine were a bit loose/not screwed very tight from the factory. I have the same headunit and had the same problem with engine noise and a high pitch whine increasing with RPM's Anyway, i had this huge 4 paragraph answer to your question and it had an error processing the page................SO In short, Circuit City said it was my headunit so i sent it back. My new installer, local guys, found out installing my PS2 this weekend that it is my 6ch RCA monster cable. I put some 2 dollar RCA from wally world in and fixed it right up. PLUS my RCA outs from the head unit were a bit loose/unscrewed. Check that out, and if you have more thoughts, i can get back to being more indepth about our tracking process of the sound. Looks like you were right The RCA preouts on the deck were very lose from the factory. i spent all day wednesday rewiring the truck with very good and expensive wire.. still didnt solve the problem next day i took it to my local audio store tried one of their amps still did the same thing. So we decided to check the rca preouts and this was the cause i sent the deck back for a new one which should arrive late this week hopefully Thanks. - Mark

just an update, i ended up going to the new 6500DVD instead this deck works perfect no problems not to mention the touch screen and indash dvd is amazing :)
