Id like the camera to power on when in reverse but also id like to be able to power in on when not in reverse by a switch. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

You will need a 3 amp diode, available at Radio Shack.  Connect the non banded end of the diode to the reverse light wire of the vehicle.  Connect the banded end of the diode to the power wire of the camera.  Connect the wire from your switch to the banded end of the diode as well.

Does anyone have a wire diagram for a reverse camera from a 2010 f350. The camera has 5 wires.

Are all 5 wires the same size?  Using an ohm meter, are 2 of the 5 electrically conneted to each other?  Is any one of the wires shielded?

I believe two of the five wires are bigger than the rest. I will check the wires with an ohm meter tomorrow.

I think I may have fried something in the head unit though. I was wired it the way I thought was right. The screen came on for "camera" with just a blank screen.

If one of the larger wires are common with one of the smaller wires, the larger will be the power ground, and the smaller will be shield for the video cable.  When you have the meter, set it to diode test, and check from both of the larger wires.  Red lead on one wire and black lead on the other wire, notice the reading.  Then reverse the leads on the same 2 wires.  Notice the reading again.  If one way it read between (.)350 and (.)600, and the other way it reads a much higher number, these 2 are power and ground.  The one that is common with the smaller is ground.  The other 2 wires are video, and probably reverse light input.  The camera probably has power on it all the time and the reverse wire turns it on.  No initialization time when put in reverse.

I highly doubt that you damaged your back up camera input on your deck.
