Jeff help me: Vertical lines in screen

I have the pioneer avx-p7000cd and 8000 tuner/controller. I uninstalled it from a old car to a new one, and know when the bass hits while playing dvd's from my playstation, I get black lines across the screen every time. Could someone help me it is really bothering me. And also it tends to show fuzzy lines when the ac is on full blast. Could the wires be getting interference from the ac wires? The vehicle is a 2000 grand cherokee, the tv is in the dash and the master unit is under the rear passenger seat. Any ideas are greatly appreciated...

It is either simmply a vibration problem, or, that I think it may be more this; when the bass hits the current is drained by the AMP, reducing the current to the Screen, causing the black lines.

Put one of those 1 Farad Capacitors in line with the amp so the current draw is from there, and not the entire electrical systtem. if that stops it, you are ok. If not, it's the vibrations being trasmitted through the body, into the screen. (SHOCK TRANSFER THEORY - Has been proven in court now. . .)

The other with the A/C on FULL blast, you mean when the Blower Motor on full? Yes, that would be from the Blower motor. EMI probably in that case. IF you put the A/C on with the blower motor on a lower setting, and you do not get the symptom, then the problem is with the main blower motor. That would mean it would also happen when the head is on full blast too.

I am having almost the same problem with my new AVH-6400 pioneer. I have a PS2 going and when I have things turned on AKA AC/Subs/In-Dash DVD, my Playstation 2 acutally cuts out?!? I am also getting those black lines in my monitors both the in-dash and the headreasts. In addition, when i have the cruise set and i am going downhill mainly, it now jerks like it is going to studder or stall?!? It is a 2000 Jetta and I am wondering if the 1Farad cap would take care of this problem.

My neighbor had a 1 cap and his lights actually DIM/Pluse with his engine RPM's and his is a 2001 Jetta with 2 10's just like i have? Could this be his cap not charging completely or too much pull/drain off of the alt.? Thinking about putting a yellow top/and re-winding my alt to 130amps? Good Idea Yes/No? Let me know your thoughts!

What are you using to power the PS2? An inverter, the infamous direct 12V from the car (which can be done). Most of the problems are power related. If you are using the 12V setup, maybe the CAP inline withthe PS2 or its inverter would help. Lots of exense to put these things in, and work wight with powerful amps. . . I got a van now, and am going to put a consol in for any system I want to place in. Have to buyld it, bus as long as it keeps happy.

I had a 75 amp alternator in my truck, without a question i changed it to a 175. Changing the alternator corrected this problem. Now i can run heater/ac, ps2, 6400CD, 2 Rockford fosgate amps and 3 JL 10W3s no problem. Also i had an invertor called "Portawattz 300" this thing was junk no matter what i did it caused lines in the screen i corrected it by buying a 400 watt motomaster brand seems to be ok now.

Whenever you get distortion on the video portion of the system it is related to the power of the system. If the video cables are too close the EMI is picked up by the video cable causing distortion. If your electrical system is not properly matched to your audio system then you will loose quality in the audio & video in forms of engine whine or lines on the video screen,

Here's an easy fix for the lines in the screens. I had the same problem with my Pioneer 6400 cd when i tried connecting a PS2 to it. First you need a 20-25 amp noise filter ( the kind with 3 wires on it , usually red blue and black ). Connect the red wire of the filter to 12 volt acc . Connect the blue wire to the head unit's 12 volt acc. Solder the black wire to the outer shielding of the video RCA cable (as close to the head unit as possible). DO NOT GROUND THE BLACK WIRE . This should solve the line problem, it worked fine for me. If you get any audio noise from the inverter use a ground loop isolator on the audio RCA cables (I used PAC's)
