Hello,
I just purchased an audiovox ACA200W and had it installed professionally. However, i noticed horizontal lines moving up/down the display. I did notice an increase in the video problem with increased RPM.The installer said that this is normal for after market backup cameras when i pointed out that my wife's van (which has a stock backup camera) doesnt have this issue. Is this true? Is it fixable? What are the most probable causes of the problem? I don't know if this matters but i will provide it for you. My vehicle is a Chevrolet Silverado HD 2500 Diesel. The rear camera is hooked to my new Kenwood dnx 9980hd navigation system. Thanks for taking the time to help me fix this problem

Could be a bad capacitor in the headunit itself. If you can get your hands on another camera and test it and it does the same thing then its confirmed. Or just test the same camera on your wifes car. If your HU is under warrenty send it back for troubleshooting.

This is not normal.  The leading cause of this is a non shielded section of the video cable.  DId the wire get cut and repaired?  If so, was any effort made to reshield that section?

Hi Scott,
The number for tech support is 1-800-225-6074 This could be a bad video cable or the cable being next to a 12v wire or possibly a product issue.
Sincerely, Frank (audiovox)

This is what an Audiovox tech posted on my question. I will speak to the installer more. I wanted to have a laundry list of things for him to check before i spoke with him again. Thanks

I am having the same problem with the same model of camera. To ensure no interfereance, I ran a video cable directly from the camera, over the seats, to the monitor.  I still had a distorted rolling image. I created a new, completely isolated ground, and that did not help either. Anyone have any answers?

My problem was a bad camera. The wiring was fine. When I replaced the camera, everything worked well.
