Has anyone successfully installed a monitor in a 'Donut' style headrest? I would like to hear some opinions/tips  as I am going to attempt this next week. I've got an 02 Montero that has this style (Big hole through the middle of the headrest)

Thanks

~Jeff

I really dont think that that would be attractive at all from the front, my suggestion would be to find some traditional style headrest that fit, and go with them, other than that have them totally covered and filled at an upholstry shop, but u still would have the dilemma of having to fabricate an enforcement plate to support the bevel

Well, I did it!  After 4 hours of patience, I was able to get this installation done. It was probably more work than it was worth, but for a small project, I am very happy with the outcome. The monitor side of the headrest looks like a normal install.  It took some creativity to give a somewhat factory look from the front of the headrests.  I wrapped some color-matched cloth from a fabric store around a piece of thin but sturdy wood the same size as the bezel which faces out the front side of the headrest. This was a very unique install, therefore, I will post some pics soon.

Post some pics! I have the same type of headrest and would love to see your results.

PICS ARE HERE! (No step by step descriptions yet, but coming soon)

Keep in mind, this was my first try with headrest monitors let alone in donut style rests and the cuts look a little rough. Nonetheless, I'm happy with the results. I've done a set for a fellow  Montero owner, and his are much cleaner.

Thanks for the tip.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean by covers? The wires are run through the headrest and next to one of the headrest posts. Virtually invisible when the headrest is in place.

Thanks for the post,
Jeff
