i installed a kenwood ddx-319 in my 2002 pontiac grand am. all wires are connected and i can tell power is going to the unit because the security light flashes. but nothing will come on the screen and nothing else will work. could someone give me some help with figuring out the issue..thanks

With the ignition switch on check voltage between ground and switched ignition and then check voltage between ground and constant power. Both readings should be ~12vdc.

If they are and the unit won't come on, the unit is bad. If one of them is not ~12vdc check the fuses in the vehicle with an ohm meter.

Did you purchase a Data harness?  There is not a switched wire in the factory harness of that vehicle.  If you purchased a Metra 70-2003 harness, there is a short length of red wire that has to be run to the fusebox in order to provide switched power to the radio.

Data harness = Metra LC-GMRC-01, or a PAC C2R-GM24 or equivalent.

i dont have a meter but i will find some one tomorrow who does.

and i had a aftermarket radio in my car before this one so i still have the data harness in my car
