i'm interested in having dvd and mp3 in my car, with both having the best sound quality, and preferably in one unit (without an lcd screen, i have one in the car already). does anybody know if the Alpine DVA-7996 displays anything on an lcd screen when playing regular music cd's? for example, track number, cd text, mp3 info, etc. and if it does, does it have to be an Alpine screen?

Otherwise, are there any other setup suggestions? I was looking into a pioneer mp3 reciever along with the P7 indash dvd player or the P9 dvd changer. or would an indash dvd player with mp3 changer be better? please help me, i've been stuck on this dilemma for a while.

Hey! Wallmart has a VERY SMALL DVD player with those compatibilities for like $49.97. . . If not, I know they have decent DVD players for $40.00, clearance, and there were VCD, MP3, CDR/W, and what not. I liked the VERY SMALL one they had. Was about 7" wide, and about 2" thick. . .

Some DVD players that you put a Disc on with the MP3 files will just whow EIGHT characters of the MP3, so you'll have to come up with some naming scheme. I gave one to my mom, with a load of MP3s on a CDR, and the menu just showed a limited amount of characters.

In any case, you can also buy one of those Music Kegs, and a seperate DVD player, You could get an even smaller one if you look around. Best Buy had a PORTABLE dvd player (no screen) for $50.00 one time, looked like a slightly larger walkman, but was a DVD player.
