Hello all, I'm new here and need some help. I have an 06 KIA spectra5, and am installing a new head unit with nav. The harness is simple enough to do but the nav unit has two extra wires that have to be connected, and I'm trying to figure out where they are in the car. The first one is a speed sensor wire, which i believe goes from the sensor to the ecm, then to the speedo, would that be correct? If so, I have narrowed it down to the connector that plugs into the cluster, but need to know what wire is the sensor wire. Second, there is a reverse sensor wire. I believe I can tap into the reverse lights for this one, would I be correct? If so, I reall do'nt want to string wire all the way back to the rear of the car. As far as I can tell the reverse light wire should run into the fuse box underneath the dash, true? If so anybody knnow which wire that would be? I have been to KIA's site, which is KGIS, but find it hard to navigate, plus I do not read schematics very well. I would greatly apprieciate any help you guys could give. Thanx.

is your vehicle an automatic? on KGIS... reverse is shown at M08-3 (12 pin connector at cluster) position 2 RED / orange wire. speed sense is
shown at M08-2 (20 pin connector at cluster) position 5 GREEN/ orange wire.

Yes, it is an auto. Why would a reverse wire be going to the cluster? Would it be to put the reverse icon on the odometer? I will go back and check kgis again. The reverse wire will be easy to check but the speed sensor wire may prove to be a challenge to check. I cannot thank you enuff for the info. As soon as I verify the wires I will report back and possibly help someone else out in the future. Again thank you.

Having gone back to KGIS with some more knowledge, I believe your information is correct, I will check tomorrow. This will make connecting the 2 wires much easier by coming off the cluster. One final question tho, how do you check for the speed sensor wire? Does it get hot when you start the engine?

with a digital voltmeter, on dc volts.. positive probe on vss wire, negative to ground. meter reading should pulse positive voltage as wheels rotate. you can drive the vehicle forward and backward slightly to make the wheels move. usually only need to move vehicle a few feet.
