I had a customer with a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX come in today with their RSE system not working properly. The screen turned on and operated correctly. The external OEM DVD player would take and eject disks.

The problem that it was having is that the DVD would load for about 2 minutes then it would come up with a "F2 Error." With further investigation, the drive is bad in the DVD player causing the DVD not to spin.

I have a company that I can send this to in order to repair the OEM DVD player. The customer wants it fixed within a week because they are heading on a vacation. My question is, has anyone added a aftermarket DVD player to this OEM system? If so, how do I go about doing it myself?

I guess I'm better off refurbishing the factory DVD player and give the customer the bad new that it won't be replaced by their trip departure or does anyone else have a better solution for me?

Every OEM video system I have encountered used Red Green and Blue video. None of them use composite video (Yellow RCA jack). I guess you already figured out it will not work.

Toyota has RGB but the Odyssey doesn't. it does work. It has a composite out.

I have added factory video input modules and tagged the dvd player video out and it shows at the navi screen. I would have to check the schematics but it is very possible. Even audio out to the monitor for the wireless headphones.

As long as the factory radio turns on the screen then you are golden which the factory radio does and not the dvd player.
