I see the sticky above. I have read for my installers not to get switched power from the dome light on newer GM vehicles. My guy ran his own lead to under the steering column. The DVD has no power with the key off.

However he did tie into those dome lights to the new built in dome lights. I am now assuming he should not touch any one of those wires there? Is that the problem with the BCM not sleeping?

Where do I have him get the dome lights from?

Thanks!

He can attach the domelight wires of the dvd to the domelight wires of the vehicle.

How do you know the BCM is not going to sleep?

There is a terminal on the fuse box just above and to the left of the brake pedal that has power on it till the door is opened. We use that terminal to trigger a relay to power the unit. Never had a problem with that keeping the BCM from going to sleep.

Dealers said the bcm was not going to sleep. My tech changed the wire so it was no longer getting power until the door was opened to a wire down where you suggested on a relay too.

Sent the customers out and like each time the battery dies about 4 days later. Next we disconnected both that wire and the dome light too so nothing was hooked up. She now has gone 7 days with no problems.

In most cases there will be another dome light in the vehicle so we have just been adding toggle switches to the M/V dome light. If the custy needs to turn the light on they find it easier to use the added switch. Avoids all problems this way. posted_image
