I just did this in my cousins s2k yesterday. The camera costs him 100 bucks at fry's and the screen was another 100 and his trim ring was 6.97 along with the usual rcas and such. That is pretty inexpensive but our image is flipped so I'm hoping we can fix tihs and If we can I'll let you know.

if the image is flipped, why not try flipping the camera? or is it a mirror image that you are getting?

the image is mirrored. We were messing with the cable on the screen and the image fixed itself for a split second and then went back to being mirrored.

Forgive me for asking but if you are trying to mimick the rearview mirror then wouldn't the image have to be mirrored ???

As far as I have been able to research, Image mirroring can only be achieved as a function of the camera. Thus the reason all quality cameras I have seen for mobile use are offered in standard, and revese image.

Sams Club has VERY CHEAP cameras with a B&W Monitor. THey are about $99.00 or less. The monitor is a 17VDC unit, so you can adapt it to the car pretty easily. It may even work off 12VDC, at the higher current. . .

I thought of doign this, but never got around to it.

The camera will diplay it as it SEES it, no image flippin.   You'll see the image as the camera does.
