I have a Gentex auto-dimming rear view mirror that has a 5 pin input on the backside of the mirror. One of the pins disables the auto-dimming functionality when power is supplied to it. The pin was designed to be connected to the vehicle's backup lights or another wire that would have power [only] when the transmission is in reverse. Achieving this would seem to be simple enough, but I would also like the auto-dimming feature to 'pause' when the vehicle's dome light is lit. I am still a beginner when it comes to electronics, but I believe I have devised a solution. Any insight into this would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

Chances are your domelight system is exactly opposite of what you posted. Make Model and Year of the vehicle in question?
