Installing a Dual brand double din headunit (model: XDCPA9BT) into my Polaris Slingshot. (2019 base model)

Using the reverse wire at the taillight for my 12v trigger, and a relay to convert the (-) reverse feed to a (+12v) trigger. The reverse lamps are negative switched. My headunit doesn’t have the option to switch, so I used a relay to convert to a positive output. No issues there.

Before buttoning everything back up, I wanted to make sure it all worked.

The radio went right into the camera view when I turned it on, even though I wasn’t in reverse. It’s a really dim, poor view, but it’s there. When I go in reverse, it properly fills the screen with the camera view.

I troubleshooted down to the camera video wire somehow giving the radio 12 volts. With the radio completely unplugged, except the backup camera video wire, I was seeing 12v through the radios backup camera trigger wire.

Any ideas how to fix this? I’ve never had an issue like this before. I’m stumped. Thanks!

The camera is powered off the taillights constant 12v (with key) and the ground is tapped into the reverse light switched ground. No relay there. Also just noticed - when the vehicle is started, the backup camera view seems to have some interference. Lines going through the screen almost like an old VHS tape.

Edit again: I also just noticed that the reverse lights are on basically no matter what - if the camera power cord is connected to the camera and video connected to the radio. So something is backfeeding somewhere causing the relay to trip on, because when I unplug the camera power, I hear the relay click off.

Ground camera to chassis. Wire relay as follows. 85 to reverse light negative switched wire. 86 and 30 get 12 volts ignition. 87 powers camera and triggers radio reverse wire.
