What product have you guys used for a AV switch? In my case I need to swich between the factory head unit and a DVD player. I already have an FM mod for the SAT tuner. I guess I could add another. Has anyone tried the P.I.E. MPSS-4. Available at crutchfied for $38. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-txd4EpTB2EX/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=469MPSS4------------- Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT

You said "av switch" but I gathered from your post that you just need to something to switch the audio, in which case that adapter from Crtuchfield will work just fine. Also the N-806 from David Navone will work for you too. Remember though that this kind of adapter is only going to work if you have an aftermarket 4-channel amp that's powering the main speakers in the vehicle. What brand/model head unit do you have? Cuz a lot of them nowadays can use optional auxilliary input adapters to add an RCA type source input to the head unit...so basically the head unit becomes the switch. Not all of the brands let you connect a changer and the aux source at the same time, but unless you have a CD changer it's not really a problem. If your head unit will work with one of those I'd recommend going that route as opposed to an external switch. ------------- Ethan

Ive got an Infiniti G35 coupe with a stock Clarion head unit. It has a built in 6 CD changer, so it doesnt have the option of adding another changer. I do have an aftermarket Alpine 5 channel amp with the Peripheral Ven4 line level converter. It does have an input for a factory wiring harness for a factory Sat tuner. Since my car is an early production, it doesnt have the factory Sat wiring harness, but is available for about $500! For a wire! Anywho, I got a Pioneer FM modulated Sat tuner for free and sounds great. thanks for the info

lol yea I know all about the G35 Satellite radio harness stuff...I thought they were charging $400 for the sat. harness? Also, apparently if you don't have a white connector you can't do the factory satellite even if you buy the $400 kit, so for a lot of people who got some of the earlier models with the "SAT" button on their radio, still can't even use that button. At least this is what I've been reading on a www.freshalloy.com Thankfully the '04 G35 Sedan that I'm just about to order will come prewired and everything, although I believe the dealer will do the satellite install. It would be really slick if in the future infinity could figure out how to hide that big antenna or make one that's built in or something, but still it's pretty exciting. I might try and buy one of the antenna specialists low-profile antennas and see if they install that one instead. I'm planning on eventually replacing the bose speakers and amps with all aftermarket equipment though; and seeing as how the two head units for the standard and the bose sytem are supposed to be identical, I will probably find myself in the same boat as you pretty soon. Let me know how it all sounds (i.e. any noise problems, etc.) ------------- Ethan

Dont order the automatic. You'll be much happier with the 6MT. And its rare for anything with that amount of power/luxury to come with a manual. As for the antenna, mine is mounted on the inside rear deck and works fine. It has cut out in downtown Houston due to buildings, but I think it would have done it with it mounted outside as well. As for the SAT install,it only takes 30-60 minutes to install it, so if the dealer wants to charge you extra, then do it yourself. Im sure you can tell em where to put the antenna. Most of the folks on freshalloy.com who mounted it inside have had no problems. I didnt buy the Bose (knew I wouldn't like it) There are many threads about the poor sound quality of bose on the Freshalloy.com. You'll need to get a new amp since the Bose amp is driving the speakers at 1omh or something. My current setup was quite cost effective and sounds great ...to me anyway. Alpine 5channel amp....$150 or so. Peripheral Ven4 line level converter $40. Alpine type R components up front...$170. CDT 8" mini sub. You'll have much more room with the sedan. No rear speakers yet. Cheapo Emerson DVD/Mp3/Tv tuner and 6.4" LCD from Jensen, not so cheap, but a cheap brand. would like to put the DVD in the upper glove box, but its 2.25" high and would require mods. Ive seen Jap pics of Skyline with a DVD player in there, looks factory and I think it is. You can also get a double din from Japan for better head unit. There is an issue with the AC controls which is being worked out. ------------- Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT

First thing to go on the car is front end paint protection (AKA 3m clearbra)....got some guy in boston who everyone seems to think is the best around for this stuff; he told me to email him 2 weeks before delivery, so we could set up a time for him to come down here. Apparently metallic rear window tint blocks out almost all of the satellite signal but I don't intend on getting metallic tint anyways, so I'll probably mount it on the rear deck. Saw one guy who took the child seat anchor thing off and put the antenna in its spot...looks really slick. Also I saw another guy who installed the delphi system (cradle in the center storage compartment), and the delphi antenna (slightly smaller than the standard terk-style) looked exactly like the child seat anchor. At first I didn't even notice, and I emailed him asking how he had 3 antennas all hooked up at the same time . Yea I've heard that you can't replace the stock head unit without losing AC controls or something like that. I don't really care about mp3 or fancy displays (at least not yet) and so I'm gonna be trying to keep it all looking like stock. I don't know yet if I'm gonna do the nav->dvd conversion first, or if I'm gonna redo the audio first. Haven't looked into DVD players yet but hopefully I can find one that fits in the glovebox. I emailed the guy from AVElectronic and asked him about the G and this unit and he said it's completely plug and play except for there's one wire that has to be hooked up. Still, I think I'm gonna do that rather than do it all on my own using a pioneer tuner and all that other crap. I don't want the bose system either cuz all it does is make it more work to put in aftermarket stuff, which I would do even if it sounded good (which it doesn't lol). But the premium package is a must for me, and you have to get the bose if you get the premium, so it looks like i'm stuck with it. Oh well I'll try and sell the bose equipment on Ebay:-D By the way, how'd you get an Alpine 5-channel amp for $150??? ------------- Ethan

I got this one....https://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=alpmrpf320 not sure where I bought it, but Etronics was an easy lookup. Ive got the clear bra too, its sitting on the floor in my living room. My wife scratched the G pulling out of the garage the other day, so need to fix that first. I said 'why were you driving it in the first place'?? As if I had to ask. ------------- Infiniti G35 Coupe 6MT
