I'm trying to hardwire a dash cam. It is a 3 wire hardwire kit (12v constant, ignition, and ground). I noticed a lot of people use fuse taps for these. I was just planning on soldering into the ignition and constant wire at the ignition switch. Should I add inline fuses?

There isn't a fuse box under the dash, so my other option is to run the wires to the fuse panel under the hood and tap in there.

The wires on a dash camera are very small. The wires you are connecting to are fused at 10 to 50 amps. The dash cam wires are designed to carry 3 amps. So if you like the vehicle and or the passengers you transport in said vehicle, yes you need to install fuses on both the Constant and ignition wires. No larger than 3 amps.
