I have a '91 Miata that I want to install a PC based sound system into. I was looking for a bright fast LCD that fills the slightly larger than 2din opening in the dash. Does anybody know of an LCD that will take input from a LCD-out on a PC and fill this opening??

I coulda sworn I replied to this earlier....guess not though.

You need a pc-to-tv converter (VGA to NTSC composite video) because I have yet to see any mobile electronics product with a DVI connector. Now as far as "filling the opening" is concerned, were you hoping to mount it on the surface, like a factory navigation screen? Most likely you're going to have to get a fold-down screen that retracts into a single DIN opening. Below it you can put an aftermarket head unit though.

Just remember that the dash in this vehicle is EXTREMELY brittle and unless extreme care is taken when removing it, you will more than likely crack it in multiple spots. Try and get it professionally installed somewhere; even if they crack it too at least you wouldn't have to pay for the damage, whereas if you try to do it yourself and it breaks you're SOL. posted_image

Yes, I want a PC DVI in LCD. These can be found at www.earthlcd.com, but I was wondering if anybody knew of one right off that was a fair price and bright and fast. The PC-NTSC conversions lack resolution and I don't want any Head-unit in my car. I know about how brittle the center console is in my car because the ID10T that installed my alarm broke it for me and attempted to glue it back in. Last time I let anybody else touch the wireing in my car. The goal here is to have a black panel when the car is off, and an in dash PC screen when the car is on.

You can simply get a video card with Svideo or composite video out and then hook that up to your screen. If you get a card with svideo out then you need to make a cable with a 470picoFarads capacitor inline from the RCA tip to pin 4 on the svideo plug. See here: https://tvtool.info/index_e.htm
