My sis wants video in her 2002 cavalier.  For obvious reasons I suggested she get screens mounted in the visors but she insists on having an overhead mount screen.  The only place to mount it in such a small car and have a halfway decent viewing angle would be right behing the rearview mirror.  I've never worked with video before but ive done tons of audio so im somewhat literate on the sort of thing, I'd just like to know if it's even possible before she buys a screen and i go tearing her car apart.

Hey Drew, tell her that it will be more beneficial for her & her passenger's to have it in the center console or in her glove box. With a roof mount unit, it's more for people in the rear seats. The screen will be really washed out and hard to see if you mount an overhead unit right where the rear view mirror is. Not to mention the legality of such an install .

Thanks a lot for your advice.  I ran the idea by her and the glove box seems out of the question because it HAS to be viewable from the driver's seat.  It seems she has a death wish.  Also she can't stand the thought of having her vanity mirrors removed from the visor.  Any other possibilities?

Ok one more question.  A complete dvd/cd/lcd in-dash is way out of price range but the in-dash screens by themselves aren't.  The problem with them is that the car only has a 1 1/2 din worth of space in the dash.  Is there a such thing as a 1/2 din in-dash lcd or perhaps a way to modify the dash to fit both the reciever and an in dash screen?

Anything is possible with enough customization. You can place an indash fold out monitor in the vents above the HVAC controls or mount a monitor under the OEM stereo location between the shifter and the stereo.
