does anyone know if this unit can be installed on its own?

I had to send in my head unit for repair, and since then I can't use the p7300DVD to play my xbox.

I'm not trying to get sound or anything just a picture from the xbox. It won't even turn on, and I triple checked all my connections.

No sorry, there is a acc power signal going through the RBG wire from the hide away box. without that signal you can't turn on the screen
