i've been looking into indash dvd players, but im stuck now.
i just want a dvd reciever, as i already have one screen in the front, but i want the screen to display cd info when playing a music cd (i.e. track number, cd text, etc.) just like it would with the indash lcd's. does anyone know if the pioneer dvh-p5000mp, dvh-p7000, kenwood z910dvd, or alpine dva-7996 displays this info? i'm really interested in the first three since the alpine is a bit pricey. also, i want to have the dvd and cd in one unit. thanks for any info you people provide!

not sure about the Pioneer ones but the Kenwood and Alpine will display tack # and time elapsed not sure about the text. I would not reccomend the Kenwood though, I do not like it for several reasons, the controls are a pain in the @ss, like for bass, treble, eq settings, x over points etc, also it DOES NOT allow you to dual source, meaning if you want to watch a movie and listen to the radio, your changer, or music keg you are S.O.L., especially if you have rear monitors this is going to pose a problem, at least with the Alpine you can have a movie going but listen to another source at the same time

Oh yeah one other thing I forgot to mention about the Kenwood is that it will NOT play burned cd's, I have had to almost give away disc changers to the first couple of customers that we installed the Kenwood DVD player for just to get them to keep the unit and not return it. I love Kenwood HU's but this one turned out to be a P.O.S.

thanks for the useful input ezridr, that definately crosses the kenwood off my list. would you say that the alpine deck is worth the money (since that one is priced pretty high, even without an lcd screen), or at that price am i better off getting an in-dash lcd screen?

if anybody else has any input regarding the pioneer dvd units, please reply, i really would like some outside input on these units before making any kind of purchase. thanks again in advance.

I think that the Alpine is definately worth the $, I don't know what kind of headunit  you are using right now, but the Alpine has a lot of nice features and you know the quality is there. One other thing to consider with the Alpine or Pioneer units is the fact that if you want to watch video and listen to a cd you are stuck with one or the other, without using a CD Changer since the DVD player IS also the CD player. If $$ is an issue I would consider buying a standalone DVD player (like the Audiovox, Visualogic, or Apex) and using it with the deck you already have OR using one of those with a CD deck that has an AUX input.
