I currently have a busted up Kenwood mp3/cd player that im replaceing. I plan on getting an in dash 7" LCD screen and a dvd player that will go under my seat. The dvd player will have Video out which will easily go to the LCD screen, but im not sure on how the red and white sound cable's will go to the amp. I can't get a fm modulator because i wont have room for an in dash head unit w/fm. Is their any way i can still connect the sound to my amp without spending hundreds on something else? Thanks to everyone who read my first post.

That is the same thing that I am going through today. They mentioned using a universal switcher but i'm thinking why. The only thing coming out of the dvd player is video and audio. In which the video is going straight to the monitor. Then audio should be able to go through the amplifier which is running the speakers. So the signal coming out of the dvd player connected into the amp should work then. Wondering why a switcher is needed if there is nothing to switch from. There will be no am/fm tuner since the old head unit is going to be taken out. There is no fm modulator with either of the new units. So the only thing this would be good for is watching dvd's and listening to cd's. I will try this and see if it works.

Sound Pressure you were very vague in your other post about WHAT exactly you were installing. NOW I can only ASSUME that you are installing a DVD player as the only source unit in the vehicle. The solution I gave you was if you were using a am/fm cd or cassette player AND the DVD player. For your solution you can run the audio inputs to the amp, does your DVD player have a VOLUME control on it????????? If not you will need to install a volume level control in between the DVD and the amp otherwise your volume will be at full blast all the time. DaVillian it would be nice to know EXACTLY what brands and models of LCD screen(s) and DVD player you are using to get the best solution for your problem. ------------- My mechanic told me, "I couldn't fix your brakes, so I made your horn louder"

Thanks ezridr. I thought that would work but just wanted to be sure. Not sure on the volume control. Do you have a part number or where they can be picked up? Radio Shack?

basically any sub volume or stereo volume control will do the PAC LC1 https://www.go2pac.com/products/lc.htm is a pretty common part Alpine also makes one as well Not sure if they carry them at the shack, if you go there ask them for a stereo rca level controller or potentiometer ------------- My mechanic told me, "I couldn't fix your brakes, so I made your horn louder"

Thanks for your posts... Ezridr: do you know if the quality will still be ok, or is thier such a volume control that can control bass, highs, ect.. seperately? The in dash LCD i plan on getting is a 7" non motorized no name model you see on ebay.. eg https://cgi.ebay.com/dll?ViewItem&item=3032241122&category=14946 and the dvd player's back that i will get will look like this pic.. https://mp3playerstore.com/player/mp-9/back-b.jpg

DaVillen I am not sure on the specs of those units, they are just vague on the speaker outputs, as for the quality of them I cannot say, however the monitor does have video inputs, and if it has no audio inputs or speaker level outputs or a volume control the easiest solution IF you are using amplifiers on ALL of your spkrs would be to buy a pre amp such as the Audiocontrol 4.1, that would give you volume, fader,parametric bass, mid , and treble controls as well as another aux audio input for a vcp or video game
