Just installed the Blaupaunkpt (sp?) ME1 DVD player, and a Pyramid video monitor. Spliced the power leads together (forgot to put an inline fuse in the monitor power lead) and then spliced this power lead to an accessory wire in the ingition harness. Everything works great....except:

1. The DVD player does not have a "resume mode". Turn off/on the car and the movie starts from the begining.

2. No fuse between the power source and the monitor.

Question:

1. If I connect the power to the 12v constant, do I run the risk of killing the battery, if the DVD is off (in standby mode)?

2. Will I eventually blow the monitor by not having a fuse?

Is the DVD player switched via A remote lead (usually blue) If so You can supply constant 12V to it. There will be no drain as long as the HU is off.

As for the fuse... You will not do any damge just because there is no fuse. However if for any reason there is a short in your wiring, or electrical system, there is nothing the to protect the unit. My advice, put one in. I'll admit if it were my car I'd like wait untill the next free chance I had (could be weeks) but I would definately get it in there ASAP.
