i am installing a pioneer DEH-P77DH.  from this unit i need to attach a 2 tv monitors, 1 rockford fosgate 600.5, a pioneer dvd changer, and a 1 farad digital cap.  do i need a relay?  thanks.

Yes, you will need one because the current load on this wire will be exceeded with just two of the devices you mentioned. Wire a relay like this and fuse with a 5 - 7.5 amp fuse :

  • 86 : GROUND
  • 85 : Remote wire from HU
  • 30 : New remote wire ( Fuse this connection )
  • 87 : Constant 12 volts
  • 87a: NOT USED

Velocitymotrsport,

A quick qustion... what is the difference between the relay hook up you described above and this one.

  • 86: Ignition switch
  • 85:Ground
  • 30:12 volt constant
  • 87:remote to amp
  • 87a:not used

Can the wires be switched around as long as they are swithed on both sides, will it work the same?

This will work the same as my configuration except that all the components will turn on when you turn the key over to the ignition as opposed to turning on the HU like ny diagram, otherwise they will do the same thing in the end.
