Hello all, I am a newbe to this forum and have a couple of questions. I noticed in a few old posts that some of you are not Pyle video fans. In one post it was said that the quality of Pyle equipment is sub-par. I was wondering what is wrong with it. The reason I ask is I was concidering putting some A/V equipment in my 2004 Saturn Vue. Before I read the previous posts I was thinking of using a PLTV7R in dash monitor-tuner and a PLDVD-99 dvd player. My second choice was Lanzar equipment (is it the same as Pyle?) such as a SVTV7R and SVDVD9. Any thoughts regarding these brands? Any substitutions you would make? Anything of better quality at near the same price? Thanks ------------- Kev.

Lanzar, Pyle , Power Acoutik & some other brands all have the same manufacturer for their video equipment. Just just put their own brand on it. The quality is not the greatest, but good for the price that you get them for. Don't expect a super high resolution picture from these unless you pay for it from another company like Pioneer or Alpine. Personally, if you just want something that will show video these are good systems. If your trying to demo your work or your business, stick with higher end companies like Alpine, Pioneer or Clarion.

All it is for is to keep my son quiet in the back (I'll be adding head rest monitors since the Vue has a moonroof) and my wife occupied with either a movie or a PS2. Sorry I did not state that in the original post, when it comes time to install I'l be asking a few more questions. Hey Kev, thanks for the praise on the article .If this is just for the kids and wife, then the Pyle,Lanzar or other's like those will suffice for you. No need to spend $ 500 - $ 700 for an Alpine or Pioneer unit then. At the price you can get the Pyle's for , you can replace them regularly for new ones every couple of years if need be  for the same price of one high end one. ------------- Jeff

That would SUCK if I could only expect to get a couple of years out of these units! If this so, I would rather enlarge my budget a bit and step up a level for reliability. Between cd’s and movies they will see quite a bit of action. I am an Engineer and I tend to over do it when it comes to research. Heck, it took me over a year to buy my Civic just because I wanted to make sure I was making the right choice. Before I purchase anything I will make sure I have been well educated on it, that is why I’m starting to ask questions now. A couple of years is being liberal of course. They could last longer or less depedning on if you get dead pixels in the screens. Even the most expensive screens out on the market get dead pixels after years of use. If you live in a colder climate , this affects the life of the screen because it takes more out of the screen when it is cold.

Hmmm... I did not know temperature played such an enormouse role on the lifespan of an LCD. I'll have to look into this a little more. The company I work for (Pelco... a CCTV manufacturer) oem's several lcd monitors, I'll ask the Engineers in charge of them about this. I know the ones we have arent very good quality or else I would use them.
Anyway, I don't think weather will play much of a role in my case. I live in Fresno California an it does not get that cold around here.

KEV I recently installed the PLTVD98 PLYE in an Isuzu Axiom it's good for the money like V.M. said and the guy used a legacy 7" monitor and it actually wasn't to bad....
