i just got a Pioneer AVH-6500 DVD for xmas!!! and i was reading up on the install manual and it says hook the green wire to (+) side of parking break wire? where is that? or is it just easier to use a relay to convert polarity of the neg. ebrake wire. OR(lol) just use an on or off switch?

thanks kevin...

well FYI...sucks b/c my car is still out of comission from when i crashed it like 3 weeks ago...=( Freaken A!

and another thing i was looking through the box there seems to be some sort of blue soft cloth or something is that to whip the screen?

I don't know where the wire is exactly, but you should (mind you i said should, i've never done this personally) be able to just ground that wire and i will work, but you should probably also install a switch that also connects to the parking brake (hide the switch) so if you get pulled over, then you can show that the screen doesn't work unless the parking brake is engaged.

silversteve nailed it.

Just ground that wire and it will work even while you are driving.

ok let me get this straight...i understand how for safety reason the wire should be hooked up to the ebrake, however if choose not to do it then it is illegal? WTF

pretty much, but it could depend on what state or city you live in...   check with your local pd and ask them.   but i'm pretty sure it is the same nation-wide...   the reason is for safety...  they don't want a bunch of people watching dvds while driving down the road at 70 MPH  it could cause some problems...   not like there aren't enough bad drivers with cell phones, can you imagine what would happen w/dvds?  Now me personally, i don't have a problem with it until you rear-end my vehicle 'cause you weren't paying attention.   I hope that explains it enough, if not then i'm sure you will get a better one later.

Hi, I just got the same thing three days ago. This thing is awesome. Although, I must say that I have not had much time to view any DVD’s or TV on it since it is illegal if you do it while driving.

I took the two ground wires and connected them to the metal body of my car, and took the green wire (The one intended for the parking brake) and connected that to the black ground wire that comes out of the "factory install radio" wiring scheme.

You should only do this if you are really sure that you will not be tempted to look at it while you are driving!

I've heard that the police can take away your car if they see you watching something while driving.

alright i got everything hooked up it works great however, i have a 94 integra and the deck is in the lower DIN and ash the screen comes up it would hit the A/C area! is there anyway or some sort of dash kit that i could use to eliminate this? right now i have the deck out on the second hole on the sides so it would just barely clear, however the screen is not able to go all the way back so actually viewing the deck from the front seats is harder. the screen is able to go back more but it cant which currently sucks balls. i did a search on some forums and people say put it in where the ash-tray and cig lighter is(right under the lower DIN) but i want to keep in the lower DIN, another was to custom mount it in the my AC vent which i dont like the idea of. so any ideas? or is there any dash kit that i could buy(i.e. from a van or other car) to cover that part that sticks out.
